Elevate education: discover new possibilities with our latest mozaBook update - version 2023.2!

As always, our dedicated team of developers listens to user feedback and creates an array of innovative features designed to inspire both educators and learners alike. In this post, you can read about the highlights of the new version of mozaBook, released a few days ago.

Are you using a SMART interactive display? We have good news for you!
With this update mozaBook has become compatible with SMART Notebook: any exercise books created in SMART can be imported into mozaBook and enriched with elements from the Media Library as well as edited with our tool selection.

Our Optoma board users can now enjoy the benefits of the ultra-versatile dual-tip pen used together with Optoma boards. By simply picking up the pen, users can start drawing within mozaBook.
Note: SMART Interactive display’s pen already has this feature!

You can activate the 2-side drawing function by long- pressing the pencil case located on the lower corner of the mozaBook screen. By activating it, the page will be divided into two sides right in the middle and two students can work on exercises simultaneously on both sides. In case of a vertical workbook, the border between two pages is the dividing line.

With longer lesson plans and multi-page exercise books, adding titles to the pages can help navigate and stay organized. By simply clicking on the gear icon next to the page with this update the title of the page can be added and edited.

► Mathematics teachers will love our new feature updates on our geometry tools. By clicking on the rotation option on the tool (ruler or protractor) a 15 degree rotation marker will appear. By dragging the tool between the dotted lines, it will automatically snap to the next dot in 15 degrees increments. Dragging outside of the dotted line area will ignore the snapping points and will rotate smoothly without snapping.

► Now all of our geometry tools are included in mozaBook in an SVG format, meaning that even on large screens the resolution quality remains the best. Furthermore the tools snap to the page. By changing the layout or scale of mozaBook, they will automatically move with the changes, always adjusting and keeping their original position.

When using the pen line style, options have been extended to fun and creative choices such as smiley faces, fruits and butterflies.

After logging in to mozaBook, on the publication selection page users can browse between their textbooks and exercise books simply by swiping left or right on the thumbnail of the publication.

We made some very handy improvements around the different media types supported by Test editor, one of the most important and popular tools in the collection. In certain type of exercise sheets it’s now possible to add YouTube videos as an illustration. Also, audio files have become supported to be added to exercises.

Another convenient improvement introduced in Test editor is the new exercise layout in Mistakes, Text filling and Gap-filling exercise types.

Some of our 3Ds already have a built-in database of board quiz questions. Simply open a 3D scene which has a board game function (for example Santa Maria) and click on the ‘create board game’ menu. Multiple 3Ds can be used to create the database of one board game (seen in ‘Edit worksheet’).

Another group of new practice exercises have been added to the broad collection of tests and the Weekly practice tool now also supports adding audio files.

Electro kit is one of the favorites among our physics teachers users and those students enthusiastic about engineering. They will love the new simulation mode added to this versatile tool, together with some new type of parts that can now be included in the circuits built with Electro kit.

Another tool with improvements related to media files is our Gallery tool. It’s now possible to insert audio files into the gallery, more specifically, to insert an audio file into an already inserted image to make the demonstration and teaching process even more insightful - accompanying visuals with audio experience.

A seemingly simple, although important improvement in our Number line tool is the possibility of entering infinite value for intervals.

Please note that due to the by now negligible usage rate among active mozaBook users, 2023.2 is the last mozaBook version that supports the Windows 7 operating system. No future version updates will be released to this OS version, however, for a period of 2 years the current version will still be supported, will run and will be able to be used on devices with Windows 7 on them.

From May 23 to 25, 2023, the vibrant city of Karlsruhe, Germany, played host to the highly anticipated Learntec conference and exhibition. With its focus on digital learning, educational technology, and innovative teaching methods, Learntec proved to be a melting pot of ideas, solutions, and collaborations and it was the place to be for the Mozaik Team as well.

As first time exhibitors, above showcasing numerous new products, suchs as the AI assisted grading platform, markr or our VR supported interactive digital anatomy atlas; cadaVR, we explored the exhibition floor to tap into the trends of the latest educational technologies, interactive learning platforms, and gamified solutions.

One standout feature of the exhibition was the emphasis on immersive technologies. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) solutions were on full display, offering immersive learning experiences across a range of subjects. From exploring historical landmarks to conducting complex science experiments, the possibilities for engaging and interactive education seemed limitless.

Another notable highlight was the prevalence of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in the realm of personalized learning. Adaptive learning platforms were a major focus, harnessing the power of AI algorithms to tailor educational content and assessments to each learner's individual needs. The potential for personalized, self-paced learning experiences was truly awe-inspiring.

Engaging Conference Sessions: The Learntec conference featured a diverse lineup of thought-provoking sessions, delivered by renowned experts and industry leaders. Topics ranged from the future of work and learning to the integration of digital tools in traditional classrooms. The sessions provided valuable insights into the evolving landscape of education and sparked lively discussions among attendees.

As we left Messe Karlsruhe, we carried with us a renewed sense of optimism and excitement. Learntec had not only showcased the cutting-edge tools and methodologies driving educational transformation, but it had also reminded us of the incredible potential that lies at the intersection of technology and learning.

With continued efforts and collaboration, we can create a future where education knows no bounds and every learner has the opportunity to thrive.

We are thrilled to share the incredible news that Lina Yanbastieva-Petrova, a remarkable educator we have the privilege of working with, has been honored with the Teacher of the Year Award in Shumen, Bulgaria. We celebrate her achievements, her commitment to education, and the impact she is having on students' lives.

We first met Lina in 2016 at our summer training. Since then, she has become a certified trainer and has co-hosted numerous mozaWeb/mozaBook webinars. She has published a journal article on foreign language teaching with mozaBook, and has presented mozaBook to a wide audience of teachers and teacher trainees. With her colleagues, Lina spent the entire summer of 2022 in our headquarters in Szeged, enhancing our content so that teachers in Bulgaria would find them tailored to their purposes. She has been the author of a number of insightful digital lessons and various other content as well. We can honestly say, it is a pleasure to work with her. We are not surprised at all that her skills and dedication were recognized on such a high level. She is truly an innovative teacher, always staying up-to-date with educational advancements.  

The award was presented by the Mayor of Shumen Municipality and the Chairman of the Municipal Council.

Congratulations, Lina! Your remarkable achievements are inspiring and your students are lucky to have you as their teacher. We are proud to have you on our team!

SETT is Scandinavia's largest exhibition and conference on innovative and modern learning. SETT stands for "Scandinavian Educational Technology Transformation" and focuses on getting the school's professional employees to feel inspired, increase their curiosity, and gain more knowledge regarding how modern learning can be developed in schools toward higher achievement. 

In 2023 we attended as exhibitors to support our partner, Optoma Scandinavia. The 3-day long attracts visitors from all across the Nordic region. This exhibition is not only a good opportunity for solution providers to showcase their latest products but for teachers to see what are the newest trends in education technology. 

SETT also hosted several presentations of the latest research results of K-12 and higher education, as well as table talks with prominent representatives.  The conference program inspiration comes directly from teachers, preschool teachers, educators, school leaders, and suppliers who have experience in changing the way schools and preschools learn.

Bett is the most extensive Education Technology exhibition in the world, which brings together Educators from across the entire education landscape and 600+ innovative EdTech and resource solution providers showcasing cutting-edge and impactful products and services. You can find solutions for all education settings, challenges, and budgets, from global tech companies to renowned education brands to startups.

This year Bett welcomed more than 30 thousand visitors from more than 123 countries. We were delighted that we could be there as one of the more than 600 exhibitors. 

As a leader in content development for K-12 education, Mozaik Education has been one of Bett's most stable solution providers for the last decade. This year, however, was extra special for us since this is our 10th time as exhibitors in London. We had exceptionally busy days during the show and had promising and valuable conversations with appreciated members of the education community from all across the globe. These meetings always remind us that teachers and students need the same thing in every classroom regardless of which part of the world they are located in easy-to-use and high-quality education material supported by reliable hardware solutions. 

We were happy to be a part of this experience and meet new people such as long-time partners to discuss new opportunities and the next step in digitalization!

This year was special because of another aspect for us, because this year some of our developers also visited us to see the fruit of their hard work in action, we were glad to have them there!

Didacta Italia - 2nd year together with our partners

We are excited to share our experience at Didacta Italia 2023, which was held in Florence from March 8th to 10th. Didacta Italia is the most important event in the field of education in Italy, bringing together educators, school administrators, policymakers, and edtech companies from across the country and around the world.

The venue for this year's event was the beautiful Fortezza da Basso, which provided an excellent backdrop for the various conferences, workshops, and exhibits that made up the event. As I walked around the different halls, we were struck by the sheer size of the event and the number of people in attendance. There were over 300 exhibitors showcasing a wide range of products and services, from traditional textbooks to virtual reality educational tools.
One of the event's highlights was the keynote address delivered by the Italian Minister of Education, who spoke about the importance of investing in education and creating a more inclusive and equitable system. The Minister's address was followed by a panel discussion that featured experts from various fields discussing the challenges facing the education system and how they can be addressed.

Another event highlight was the exhibition area, where companies and organizations showcased their latest products and services. We were particularly interested in the edtech companies that were exhibiting, as they are playing an increasingly important role in shaping the future of education. There were virtual reality tools, educational apps, and interactive whiteboards, among other products.

Our partners, Campustore and La Nostra Storia In Gioco represented Mozaik Education’s products and services with discounts, bundle offers, and amazing visual displays that brought in a huge amount of new interested teachers, parents, and students. 

Overall, Didacta Italia 2023 is an incredibly informative and inspiring event. It provided a great opportunity to learn about the latest trends and innovations in education and to connect with other educators and professionals in the field. We look forward to attending next year's event and seeing how the education landscape continues to evolve together with our partners.
