The Development of Land Transport
The Development of Land Transport
The various means of transport are fundamental parts of modern life. Because of our accelerated lifestyles, we need to cover huge distances as quickly as possible, preferably in a comfortable and safe way, carrying the largest quantity of goods from one city to another. In the 19th and 20th centuries, there was a boom in the development of land transport. Before the 19th century, horse-drawn carts were the main means of transport, which lost ground due to the appearance of steam locomotives and combustion engine-driven cars. The 20th century was the age of electric vehicles: trains, trolley-buses and trams. It is assumed that in the 21st century this type of vehicle will become more and more widespread. We can only guess what transport will look like in the future, but one thing seems certain: more efficient and more complex vehicles will be invented.
