Time
In the very beginning, the measurement of time was linked to nature. Months, parts of the day, and activities such as sowing and harvesting were linked to the movement of the sun or moon. The Egyptians divided the day into \latex{ 24 } equal parts. They used water clocks to tell how much of the day had passed. The Greeks and Chinese constructed sundials, using the shadow of a rod to measure the passage of time. As technology developed, timekeeping devices became more and more accurate.
Hi Steve! The train leaves at \latex{ 14:15 }.
The journey takes \latex{ 1 } \latex{hour} \latex{and} \latex{ 20 } \latex{minutes},
so I’ll be there at half past three.
Time: when an event happens (the train leaves at \latex{ 14:15 }).
Duration: how long an event takes (the journey takes \latex{ 1 } \latex{ hour } \latex{ and } \latex{ 20 } \latex{ minutes }).
Time is measured using a base \latex{ 60 } system, not a base \latex{ 10 } system.
The base \latex{ 60 } system was introduced by the ancient Sumerians.

In leap years, February is \latex{ 29 } \latex{ days } long, which makes a leap year \latex{ 366 } \latex{ days } long .
Which year is a leap year? If the year can be divided by \latex{ 4 } but not by \latex{ 100 } (unless it can be divided by \latex{ 400 }), then it is a leap year. For example, \latex{ 1900 } was not a leap year, but \latex{ 2000 } was.
